Application Procedure for Requesting Information under RTI Act:
A request for obtaining information under Sub-Section (1) of Section 6 shall be accompanied by an application fee of Rupees Ten (Rs. 10/-) by way Indian Postal Order, Demand Draft or Banker's cheque  payable to the ACF&A O/o Chief Conservator of Soils, Punjab or DSCO cum PIO (Concerned district name)  if information is required from any district level office
  For providing the information under Sub-Section (1) of Section 7, the fee shall be charged at the following rates:
 
  • Rupees two for each page (in A-4 or A-3 size paper) created or copies;
  • Actual charge or cost price of a copy in larger size paper;
 
  • Actual cost or price for samples or models; and
 

  • No fee for inspection of record shall be charged, if such an inspection is made for one hour only. However, if inspection is made for a period of more than one hour, then a fee of rupees ten shall be charged for every fifteen minutes in excess of first hour. Every fraction of the period above fifteen minutes shall be construed as a complete period of fifteen minutes and it shall be charged as full period of fifteen minutes.
  For providing the information under Sub-Section (5) of Section 7, the fee shall be charged at the following rates:-
 
  • For information provided in diskette or floppy rupees fifty (Rs. 50/-) per diskette or floppy; and
 
  • For information provided in printed form at the price fixed for such publication or rupees two per page of photocopy for extracts from the publication
   

Time limit to get the Information:
 

30 days from the date of application
 

48 hours for information concerning the life and liberty of a person
 

5 days shall be added to the above response time, in case the application for information is given to Assistant Public Information Officer. 
 

If the interests of a third party are involved then time limit will be 40 days (maximum period + time given to the party to make representation)
 

Grounds for Rejection:
 

If it is covered by exemption from disclosure. (S.8)
 

If it infringes copyright of any person other than the State. (S.9)
