SCHEMES IMPLEMENTED BY DEPARTMENT

 

                   In the department, the main schemes being implemented are state plan and Centrally Sponsored Scheme. Apart from these schemes, there are some other projects and schemes that are being implemented by taking direct financial assistance from other departments/agencies, as per following detail:

SC(A)6.1 Provision for Machinery Division at Head Quarter.

It is an ongoing scheme since 1990-91. Heavy machinery like Bulldozers, Excavators-cum-loaders for development of land is provided on custom hiring basis at subsidized rates. Works: Land Development, Fine Leveling, Trenching

Project for promotion of Micro Irrigation on Punjab (NABARD- RIDF-XIII)  (95% NABARD Loan: 5% State)

Water Conservation & Productivity Enhancement.

         3 Year NABARD-RIDF Project from Year 2007-08 to 2009-10.

         Addl. 25% Subsidy provided to farmers for installation of Drip, Micro Sprinkler & Sprinkler Irrigation systems in all districts.

         Subsidy limits as per GOI Guidelines.

         50% Subsidy, subject to limit of Rs. 1.00 Lakh per Tank, on Farm Water Storage Tanks in canal command areas of South-western districts.

Soil & Water conservation on watershed  basis in Kandi non-project Areas

Ongoing State Plan Scheme to increase Productivity in Rainfed areas (Kandi area) through management of rainwater. Works include: Water Harvesting, Micro-lift, Check Dams, Soil Conservation structures etc

Districts of  Mohali, Ropar, Nawanshaher, Hoshiarpur & Gurdaspur.

Scheme for Rain Water Harvesting in the State

Rainwater Harvesting in the state to accelerate ground water recharge for the replenishment of depleting ground water resource.

Districts of  Mohali, Ropar, Nawanshaher, Hoshiarpur & Gurdaspur.

5 Resource Conservation through Laser Leveler

To conserve on-farm irrigation water through fine leveling of the fields. Assistance of 50% of the cost, subject to a limit of Rs. 1.50 Lakh, is proposed on the purchase of 1 Laser Leveler for the farmers owning a Tractor of 55 HP or above

Centrally sponsored SCHEMES

1.

SC(A) 7.3 & CS-7 Macro Management Works Plan (90:10 GOI:State sharing)

a) National Watershed Development Programme for Rainfed Areas (NWDPRA)

b) Treatment of Catchment of Flood Prone River (FPR)-Ghaggar

The National Watershed Development Project for Rainfed Areas (NWDPRA) and Treatment of catchment area of Flood Prone River (FPR) are to be implemented in selective 50 Micro-watersheds having a total area of 50,000 ha to be treated in next 5 years in kandi area. The objective is to enhance the productivity of rainfed areas with Integrated Watershed Development approach.

SC(A) 7.5 & CS-8  Pilot Project on Reclamation of Ravenous and Gullied Land under Technology Development, Extension and Training (TDET) (100% GOI on Govt./ Panchayati lands; 60% GOI on Private lands of farmers )

To reclaim & develop ravenous/degraded lands. Major Activities: Bench Terracing, Land Leveling, Drop Structures, Field Bunding, Tree Plantation etc.

Special problem, degraded & ravenous areas in Amritsar & Gurdaspur districts.

3.

SC(A) 7.7 & CS-9 Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Micro Irrigation

(80:20 GOI:State sharing)

A  scheme to promote Drip & Sprinkler irrigation on Horticulture & Non-Horticulture crops with 50% subsidy to the beneficiaries. Subsidy available upto 5 hectares area per farmer

1.

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) of Deptt. of Agriculture

 

Consumptive use of surface & sub-surface water for enhancing the area under optimum irrigation. Assistance of 90% of Project cost to groups of farmers.

Muktsar, Ferozepur, Sangrur, Patiala, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Faridkot, Bathinda districts.

Integrated Wasteland Development Projects (IWDP) and Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) of Deptt. of Rural Dev. (90% GOI: 10% State)

Reclamation & development of wastelands/ degraded lands for optimum production.

Departmental Officers are implementing15 IWDP Projects in 11 districts.Recently, GOI has sanctioned 6 Nos. IWMP Projects for 17 Micro-watersheds falling in Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Ropar districts. ADC (Dev.) are the Nodal Officers in all districts.

Gurdaspur, Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Muktsar, Amritsar, Sangrur, Mansa and Nawanshaher districts.
